Elena Gorn (b. 1978, Moscow) is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Tel Aviv. In her practice, she analyzes mechanisms of adaptation and the construction of life in conditions where stability is not given in advance. She works at the intersection of abstract painting, spatial forms, and field research, focusing on memory, identity, and the experience of emigration.
Drawing on a 15≠year background in graphic design, Gorn uses principles of structure and composition as an internal framework for material experimentation. Her method is based on direct physical action: pressure, repetition, and the rubbing of local earth into the surface of the canvas. The artist integrates the conditions of her open≠air studio in Tel Aviv Ч sun, precipitation, and time Ч into her practice, recording the transformation of landscape into spatial objects.
Photography in the environment functions as an additional methodological tool, documenting fragments of reality for their subsequent translation into material form. At the intersection of working with earth and documenting the environment, the object becomes a witness to time, landscape, and human presence.
Gorn studied at the Moscow School of Contemporary Art (MSCA) and SHOV School. In 2025, she received the status of Certified Outstanding Artist from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, Israel. She participates in Israeli and international projects, including exhibitions at Bauhaus Center Tel Aviv and curated exhibitions in Tel Aviv.
