Javier Gil Muñiz
was born in 1960 in Sidi Ifni and holds a degree in Fine Arts from the
Complutense University of Madrid (2020) and completed a master's degree in
Research in Art and Creation (2022). Madrid is the city where he currently
lives. She also attended a master's degree (1997-1999) in Gardening and
Landscaping at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and another one on
conservation of historic gardens. He has dedicated himself professionally to
the design and construction of gardens up to the present day. He has carried

In 1985-1986 he
worked as an assistant in Oscar Manesi's engraving studio and attended
workshops on contemporary art with Frederik Amat, Carlos León and Juan Navarro
Baldeweg at the Círculo de Bellas Artes. The Pollock-Krasner Foundation awarded
him a grant in 1990-1991 which allowed him his first solo exhibition in Gran
Canaria. In 2016 he resumed his studies in Fine Arts. In the summer of 2017 he
was selected for the international group exhibition of European universities,
Artagon, in Paris.
More than thirty
years ago, he began the study of Zen. He was awarded a diploma for twenty years
of study of The Tea Ceremony by the Urasenke Foundation in Japan and in the
summer of 2021, he was promoted to Assistant Master within the Sanbo school by
its abbot Yamada Ryoun Roshi. The practice of Zen is a fundamental part of his
artistic research. He currently combines his work in garden design with the
practice of art.
