Iris
Giannakopoulou was born in Athens in 1981. She studied Architecture in
England and Scotland. She collaborated with important Greek architects,
including her 'teacher' Konstantinos Decavallas. Since 2011 she
maintains an architectural office in Athens. She has also worked in
graphic design, architectural photography and illustration. Her two solo
exhibitions ('Lines in the Sun', Mykonos 2013, 'Anemologio', Mykonos
2017) were followed with the exhibition 'to the moon & back' in
2022, on the island of Hydra.
Iris is a sailing and scuba-diving enthusiast and lover of Greek
tradition. Her love for all things sea-related originates from childhood
summers with her family on a boat. Through architectural sketching, she
formed a personal expressive language with which she captures her
experiences, especially the trips which are her greatest source of
inspiration. A mother of three, Iris and her family travel through
Greece on a sailboat, discovering and drawing its beauties.
