All the
movements of everyday life inspire me, and I seek to celebrate life in all its
forms.
People say to me 'Oh, you're so talented'
so I think in my head: yes, I'm lucky, but above all stubborn' to
learn, experiment, and refine my techniques because it doesn't come by itself.
Born in Saint-Félicien, Quebec, Canada, my
artistic journey has been a real adventure, from painting on stones and wood in
my childhood to studying the techniques of the great masters. I took painting classes at a fine arts school
in Montreal: Mission Renaissance; The school belongs to two wonderful artists:
Hélène Béland and Daniel Brient, my teachers.
I learned through the techniques of the
great masters. Each reproduction allowed
me to discover a different vision of our world, helping me to find my style. Then I let myself be inspired by artists such as David Leffel, César
Santos and Ginsburg. Their thoughtful approach and technical
mastery allowed me to understand that painting requires foolproof logic,
regardless of the style. This awareness allows me to experiment, learn, and
evolve as an artist.
My artistic approach is often
to use the Flemish classical painting method (grisailles and glazes) over time
my work has evolved to include elements of impressionism and abstract
expressionism, often mixed on the same canvas. Flemish techniques offer a wealth of detail, while
Impressionism has a unique way of capturing the atmosphere. It's an interesting
combination of influences that interests me.
I'm constantly trying to capture the
energy and light of my stories; A certain atmosphere that can be
told. All the movements of everyday life inspire me, and I seek to capture and
celebrate these precious and fleeting moments of life, with all their colors,
emotions, and energy.
My work seems to evolve faster and faster
by experimenting with other mediums. My
only constant is my quest to capture and reproduce these fleeting moments so art lovers can experience them personally.
My goal? Convey feelings of serenity, hope, life, and beauty.
My personal experiences have a significant
influence on my artistic practice. I also incorporate into my work reflections
on current events such as the situation in Israel and Gaza, which corresponds
to the latter commission that I have been asked to produce.
This hopefully makes my art both
accessible and deeply human.
