DUO DESIGNERS: Adriana Fortunato and Caterina Fumagalli
Adriana Fortunato is an Italian-Brazilian designer specialized in homelinen. She studied Architeture in Brazil and founded her atelier in 2012, established a new concept, one which exceeds traditional formats and craftworks for home linen. Her unique and exclusive pieces with their new forms and functionality allow unexpected compositions to be created. Atelier Adriana Fortunato collection is handamade with pure linen and others natural fibers.
A study in the field of contemporary design and production chains were decisive in her choice of materials. Adriana's experience as a consultant for sustainable projects drove to choose linen as the principal material, in collaboration with the textile industry certified by Masters of Linen (CELC) certification.
Caterina Fumagalli, 1985, is an architect graduated at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio (Switzerland). She has been made responsible for national and international projects, developed by important italian architecture firms. She is co-founder of Fumagalli&CO, a company focused on the development of new concepts for residential models, specialized in prefabricated techniques. She also developed experience as freelance journalist in the field of architecture, being involved in several editorial projects. She has been tutor at the Faculty of Architecture of the cities of Genova and Milano as well as at the Design Faculty at SPD. Until 2018 she has been co-founder and director of the Sino European Innovation Institute, Italian branch of Unesco - ICCSD. For years she has been involved in the new international cultural formats development, taking care of their contents and communication.
Since 2019 Adriana Fortunato and Caterina Fumagalli have been developing the FIBRA research project, which investigates the use of unused fibers and materials from the high quality textile industry for the creation of unique pieces of art design and limited edition furniture components. Both are co - founders of MarkeTEAM Upcycling Days, a project that uses culture as an aggregation tool in support of a just cause.
