Student in the masterclass of dozent Christian Ludwig ATTERSEE

Since 2008,
artist Petra Forman (*1968, Hollabrunn) has found inexhaustible inspiration in the idyllic setting of her studio
on Lake Neudörfl in Burgenland. During these years of creating and living
surrounded by nature, she has not only honed her artistic vision, but also
deepened her academic and practical expertise by attending the postgraduate
master's programme ‘Art & Economy’ at the renowned University of Applied
Arts Vienna. In addition, she expanded her skills and knowledge in the
masterclass of the acclaimed artist Christian Ludwig Attersee, where she was
able to gain unique insights and inspiration for her artistic career.
Petra
Forman has already taken part in numerous national and international
exhibitions. Her most recent successes include participation in the renowned
Florence Biennale 2023 and participation as Vienna Coordinator in the Climate
Biennale 2024 organised by Kunsthaus Wien, where she is involved with ARTISTS
FOR FUTURE GRAZ, as well as curating an artist collective with artists such as
Mario Dalpra at Parallel Vienna 2024.
Her creative
work currently spans two fascinating places: the idyllic Burgenland and the
picturesque island of Korčula in Croatia, where she creates her artworks almost
exclusively outdoors in her studios.
In her
figurative series, the artist presents the provocative art series ‘Skinless’ -
a haunting collection of mostly female heads or people and figures in averted
or sideways positions that expose the fragility and rawness of human emotions
and the artist aims to reveal the deepest layers of our identity and vulnerability
to the viewer of the artworks.
Her
favoured medium includes sensually conceived figurative works that aim to
elicit visceral responses, far beyond mere visual perceptions. These works are
carefully crafted to evoke profound emotional or instinctual resonances rather
than merely function as visual representations.
Consequently,
the compositions mix abstraction with expressive elements and force the viewer
to engage in an ongoing emotional dialogue with themselves.
Petra
Forman's art revolves around the search for harmony and balance. Her artworks
seamlessly combine elements of Croatian minimalism with echoes of ancient
mysticism, creating an intriguing interplay of figures and textures that give
her pieces a distinct sensory dimension.
