Gabriel Fontanillo Riesco is an industrial engineer and light sculptor, founder of NUR Living Lights, an experiential light studio established in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in 2011 and based since 2020 in the Albaicín, Granada, Spain. The studio practises what he calls perceptual biomimicry: altering the scale and position of life's unseen architectures so the visitor experiences a perceptual leap, the world felt from the point of view of another species, reopening a lost dialogue with the beings we share the world with. His work has been shown at the Triennale di Milano, the California Academy of Sciences (San Francisco), Burning Man 2022, Bright Brussels 2024 and Alumbra Light Festival 2025 at Granada's Botanical Garden. He carries the full cycle of each work himself: concept, generative design, parametric CAD, structural analysis, digital fabrication and on-site installation.
