Lika FloenS was born and grew up in southern Russia. Ever since she was a little girl, she loved drawing and composing poems and fairy-tales while sitting under a pear tree in her garden.
Once she finished school, she enrolled at a university, where she studied economics and finance.
In 2004, she continued her studies at another university's faculty of design.
In 2006, several of her creations were put on display at a group exhibition in a museum. Before the year was over, they were purchased by a private collector from Russia.
Lika graduated in 2008, and eventually opened a design studio.
In 2012, she got married and moved to Europe. She remained committed to textile and fashion design.
Lika has been making art in her studio in southern Germany since 2020.
Lika FloenS explores her own psyche through the lens of quantum psychology and expresses her different mental in mixed-media art.
Her
creations are usually richly saturated, with free flowing shapes,
reminiscent of something out of a daydream. It's as if the artist and
her palette are having a conversation, where her most profound emotions
are brought to the surface.
"The
canvas is the Soul; and as the paints touch it, they begin to move.
There is no order to their motion, and no rush either. Sometimes,
realistic silhouettes may emerge side by side with abstract shapes. The
bright splashes of color generate a vibrant energy, a whole new language
without words. In this art, layers symbolize transformation: the colors
symbolizing the emotion of each given moment overlap with one another,
which signals the beginning of a new phase".
As
a result, the observer may encounter half-hidden images, or even
glimpse patterns unique to their individual perception and brain waves,
thus awakening the link to their inner world and its harmony.
