Patrícia Ferreira was born in 1977, in Braga, where she also
lives and develops her artistic project, at her studio in the historic centre.
She graduated in the areas of communication and
management; she worked as a manager in the financial sector for almost 20 years
and changed her life to dedicate herself entirely to her art. Today she does
what she is.
She regularly
exhibits drawing, painting, illustration and cartoon; she conducts workshops and
painting classes, does illustration work for books and writes.
Patrícia Ferreira highlights the individual exhibitions:
"Micro-Nouvelles: 13 Tragic Stories + 2 Short", "Mar_é",
"Circus of Life", "33", "(Dis)Obey" and
"Braga – From Ocre to Ciano". As far as awards are concerned, the
Honorable Mention at the II Biennial of Drawing in Almada, in 2018, stands out.
In 2022, she published the book “Braga - Do Ocre ao
Ciano” which is part of the “Artistas de/em Braga” collection of the Pio XII
Museum, with more than 200 illustrations and texts about her homeland.
Also in 2022, she was invited to present her work about
Braga at the iconic International Festival "Rendez-Vous Carnet de
Voyage" in Clermont-Ferrand.
Many of her works are autobiographical, but she also
likes to create in the areas of visual poetry, sarcastic humour, extravagant
characters, fables and capturing “snapshots” of everyday life.
In her most recent work, she has focused her attention on
the conception of works that reflect on the obedience/disobedience dilemma,
specifically on women. She is also concerned with the path that humanity is
following, in an increasingly digital, artificial, conflictual and superficial
world. After all, do we evolve or regress? Are we still real? Are we still
human?
