Karin Ferrari uses visual material from pop culture and daily life in order to investigate the present. Her artistic work is inspired by Internet subcultures that try to understand: what’s really going on?Since 2011 Ferrari has been working on her video series DECODING THE WHOLE TRUTH. These experimental docu-fictions claim to reveal hidden messages in music videos, international news intros, logos and other iconic imagery. Mixing the rhetoric of conspiracy theories and academia, Ferrari adopts and creates speculative narratives on the threshold of scientific methodology, paranoid political imagination and esoteric utopian desires. Her DECODING videos are published on Ferrari’s YouTube channel TR4$H M4GIC TV, have been shown internationally in museums, art-centers and broadcast on television. Ferrari’s work is an artistic contribution to discussions concerning fake news phenomena, (dis)infotainment and visual awareness.Karin Ferrari has studied cultural studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. For two years she worked as a curatorial assistant for design at the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts. Her work has been shown internationally, such as at Art Omi New York, the Belvedere 21 - Museum for Contemporary Art Vienna, Antarctic Biennale 2017, The Wrong – Digital Art Biennale 2017, the 5th Moscow Biennial for Young Art 2016, Cité International des Arts, Paris, Triennale Sint Niklaas in Belgium, the Royal Military Museum Brussels, Videotage in Hong Kong, Trafo Galeria in Budapest and on the online platform Arte Creative (Germany- France). Her works are on the distribution platform 6x6 project (New York), on Ferrari’s YouTube channel TR4$H M4GIC TV and have been broadcast on Austrian national TV.
