Sam Fayed is a filmmaker/multimedia artist currently based in New York City. His conception of creativity takes inspiration from being a middle, wild-child in a
multicultural, patriarchal family unit. He was born in London, England in 1985 and has been living
in Los Angeles and New York since the age of six. He graduated from the University of
California Los Angeles with a degree in Theater, Film, and Television, and went on to
study the method technique of acting at the Strasberg Institute traditional theater and Stella Adler, both of which have informed his methodology and technique. Being on the road as a musician inspired the curiosity within Fayed’s work. The social aspects of being on the go; the people, and the
exchanges are all embedded in the constructions, imagery, and collages and explored in his work. Constantly lugging around gear and
experiencing new environments placed him under unique forms of advertising and pop
culture, all amidst the backdrop of having to perform to strangers. His work embodies a
sarcastic search for the truth, that which parallels the humor in being the performer.
