Armel Evrard became an artist because he sees his life in colour and this life is seeking freedom.  It is through the medium of intense feeling that he creates original paintings.  He believes that art can bring people such ecstasy that it has the power to wipe out any misery.  His paintings tell stories; Pain, Frustration, Humiliation and Determination have influenced the emotional content of his art.  Borrowing scenes from his daily life, he tends to make bold statements and use sharp colours.  His choice of vivid colours and the thick black lines reminiscent of many earlier modern artists such as Picasso, is a reminder of his afro-European heritage.
