Evangelina Elizondo was born and grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She lived in Washington DC for 18 years and recently moved to Florence, Italy.
She was educated in Buenos Aires obtaining a Masters in Fine Arts, with a field of concentration in painting, from the National School of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyerredon, where she studied drawing, painting and engraving, as well as sculpture and art restoration.
Her expertise as an artist, art educator and curator is based on extensive research on the connection between art and social issues and on the importance of art as a communication tool to create awareness about global issues and to give intelligible form and meaning to personal experience.
She works with a variety of art media: from the traditional methods of painting to mixed media and recycled materials in line with her concern about issues of health and global warming.
Her last series of works plays an important role in her career as an artist. She has used installations, (different materials, photographs, objects and spatial design) to represent the impact of health issues, the health care system, the waste of medical supplies and the general need for recycling in the society at large.
She was part of solo and group exhibitions, Semifinalist, Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2016, National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution (100 artists selected out of 2500 artists), winner of Sustainability and Art, RRR Paper as Art and Design, Arte Laguna Prize, 2016.
