Born in Rome to Egyptian parents, I grew up around a multitude of cultures but the artistic representations of them were not readily available to me. Having grown up in a household disinterested in art I was not exposed to many influences other than what was present in my daily life, finding beauty in peculiar things from my childhood was paramount into the development of my photography career. I began taking photos during the period of time when I was transferring from Italy to the United Kingdom. Having seen how beautiful my home country was and how much joy the sun in Rome brought me, I was disappointed to see that the UK did not have any of the things I was used to seeing environmentally, it was a lot grungier, dark and grey. During the short British summers spent here, my friends pushed me to start taking photographs of various brands that their respective friends were dabbling in. Far from my interest, it gave me a chance to practice my style. Being introduced to more people in the fashion industry, I set out on proving to myself that I could do better than every other time. And here I am today, still enjoying the journey and wondering if it can get better than before.
