Nádia Duvall, born in 1986 in Spain and of Portuguese nationality, is a multidisciplinary artist with currently sixteen heteronyms. Her work addresses multiple autobiographical, social, and political questions, with profound philosophical reflections expressed through a range of media including sculpture, drawing, painting, video, performance, literature, and cinema. Duvall holds a PhD in Fine Arts (2024), with the final classification of Summa Cum Laude (Distinction and Honour) by the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. Throughout her training she has undertaken multiple technological specialisations, spanning from film to the visual arts.
Duvall has received multiple awards, including the BANIF Painting Revelation Prize (2008); the Art, Science and Technology Award from DG Artes in partnership with Ciência Viva; the Young Creators Award/Grant from the National Centre for Culture of Portugal (2016); and the European Young Creation Award from the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum in partnership with the JCE Biennale (2019). She also obtained a prestigious FCT doctoral grant (2019–2023) and several consecutive Merits at the Luxembourg Art Prize. She is currently represented by Galeria FOCO, and her work is held in various private collections.
Her first medium-length film GREEN SCREAM (42”), 2024 was nominated for several international festivals and has already been awarded Best Experimental Film at the WSXA Barcelona Film Festival (2024), along with two Honourable Mentions at the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival (2024) and the WSXA & ARFF International Film Festival. Her second short film THE BLUE HOUR (13''), 2025 had won first award in experimental category at London Indie Film Festival. Duvall lives in Lisbon, Portugal where she teach at Lusófona University.
