Anastasia Dumarey (1986) is a Belgian autodidact artist, in 2008 she finished the fashion design program at Istituto Marangoni. After graduating she started exploring the possibilities within the
contemporary art world and even immersed herself in architecture and design.
She is fascinated with observing chaos unfold,
this combined with a compulsion toward order is the driving force behind her work.
‘CHAOTISM’ a way of creation, reACTION focused, intended to capture genuine emotion.
She applies this duality by working in cycles of destruction & construction.
At Otres Art Studio in Cambodia, she hosts workshops where she practices and teaches
‘Chaotism’; in these laboratory style collaborative sessions a mixture of materials and techniques
are applied allowing expression in different layers and textures.
In a following stage Anastasia utilizes acrylic paints and markers to interpret and reinforce the
collected shapes, lines and shades, transforming them into an abstract composition filled with
expressive surrealist creatures and features.
