I was born
and live in Bari, in southern Italy. I have been painting since I was a child,
even though I have never formally studied art or exhibited my work.
What
attracts me is direct contact with colour: its consistency, its texture, the
possibility of using it not only as a medium, but as a living, malleable
substance.
When I
paint, I experience a moment of deep perception of myself, as if I could
express an invisible and unknown self.
I am
fascinated by the idea of creating unreal, inconceivable realities. During the
creative process, I start from the absolute sterility of white to restore to
the world the fulfilled desire to cover the canvas with matter.
Behind
every drawing there is a journey: the search for depth in two-dimensionality,
the transition from a monochromatic reality to one in which colour becomes
three-dimensional.
I take
inspiration from small signs in the world — imperceptible fractures, cracks in
reality, faded fragments of a shattered everyday life — and transform them into
colour.
