FLAVIO DI RENZO, (Born 1993, Abruzzo, Italy)
Born and raised in Abruzzo, even before concluding his studies he decided to move to Milan, where he still lives and where he achieved an Artistic diploma at High School Caravaggio. From performing art to theatre-dance, in Milan he discovers photography, in which he finds his most authentic language. However, the feeling that keeps him tied to the theater is strong. This union takes the form of collaborations with the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, with the Paolo Grassi School of Dramatic Art but also with the National Academy of Dance in Rome, the Burri Continuous Theater and the Ater Ballet.
In Milan he completed his education at the (IED) European Institute of Design, where, thanks to the photographic project " Tra apparenza ed inganno" he won the merit scholarship for the master's degree in advanced photography curated by Silvia Lelli and Roberto Masotti. This path has lead him to create "In Equilibrio, sul Confine" exhibited in the photographic collective of IED master in 2017 with the support of the magazine "Il Fotografo".In 2022 "In Equilibrio, sul confine" has been one of the protagonists of "Kaleidoscope" curated by Fortunato D'Amico and Chiara Ferella Falda for "Genova Be Design Week 2022" and of "Genova start" at the Lazzaro contemporary art gallery .
Among the Milanese exhibitions is also the solo show "Milano L'Uomo e la Città - Expo 2015 - Riflessi" curated by Chiara Ferella Falda produced by Superstudio13.
In 2021 Flavio Di Renzo founded SlashFolder: a digital research platform. Thanks to this tool, he perfected the format of the "Works in progress", works that are constantly evolving: thanks to the conception of the "SlashFolderAR" App, Augmented Reality makes works of art come alive.
In the same year he presented the "Più" project which obtained the high patronage of the Abruzzo region at the MIA Photo Fair in collaboration with RED LAB Gallery in which the Artribune magazine mentioned him among the ten most interesting stands of this edition.Honorable mentions at the Monochrome Photo Awards and Annual Photo Awards will follow and among all, the work "Bodyscape" wins the final in the Art Laguna Prize 2023, therefore the Arsenale Nord in Venice.
He is also one of the artists of "Looking for Art" for which he adheres to the art project for Palazzo Borromeo "Segno" curated by Francesca Bardazzi which will see the light in October 2022 and will follow the art collective curated by Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico "Liberi dalle Barriere" presented at Palazzo Reale in Milan and then exhibited at the Spazio Big Santa Marta.
With the collaboration of the artist Marco Marezza presents the project "Waiting for a journey in Abruzzo" with the support of the Abruzzo region, the province of Pescara and the Gran Sasso National Park, to promote art initiatives for the territory in which he was born and grown up
He specializes in Augmented and Virtual Reality at (IDI) the Italian Institute of Design in Milan.
Di Renzo actively collaborates by putting his skills at the service of social issues: together with the luminary Dr. Pier Giuseppe Carando uses virtual reality to treat patients with stuttering.
He works on the art project "Emikrania": an exhibition itinerary that investigates the problem from which the artist himself suffers, the augmented reality will become a diagnostic tool for those who, like him, suffer from this disorder that has led him to partially lose his sight.
The experience as a photographer is then fundamental for the creative direction as well as in the creative communication area at the "WAW Collection", with which it fits into the world of the Brera design district and the Fuori Salone, but also: Showbees, Ferrero, Disney, Colmar , Kinder, Ferrari, Giro d'Italia and many others.
