Adelaide Di Nunzio | Artist Biography
Adelaide Di Nunzio is an Italian photographer and visual researcher who lives and works between
Naples and Cologne. After her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and the Richard
Bauer School of Photography in Milan, she developed a practice rooted in a profound
anthropological and social consciousness.
Her work is characterized by constant artistic research that explores the boundaries between
document and metaphor. Di Nunzio does not merely observe reality; she investigates the human condition through a sophisticated system of symbols and evocations. Her artistic inquiry often focuses on the body, identity, and the territory, transforming photography into a tool for
political and poetic resistance.
In 2020, she published her acclaimed photographic monograph, „Architetture Criminali“.
In this project, she offers a stark, analytical exploration of the symbiotic and
often unsettling relationship between organized crime and the built environment. Her ability to
capture the "unspoken" through landscape and structure has made this work a significant point
of reference in contemporary visual sociology.
Di Nunzio's versatile approach allows her to master both digital and analog techniques,
alternating between the raw intensity of black and white and the narrative nuances of color. Thistechnical flexibility is always at the service of her conceptual goals, whether in her fine art
projects or her investigative photojournalism.
Her images have been featured in numerous Italian and international magazines, and her work is regularly exhibited in galleries and institutions. Beyond her solo practice, she is a dedicated lecturer and researcher, specializing in architectural photography. Through her teaching and her art, she continues to explore the power of the image to stimulate critical reflection and profound emotional engagement.
