Julia Deutschmann was born as the youngest of two children in the year 1999. She grown up in a small valley called Stubaital and was often misunderstood by her surrounding. Really early Julias’ mum recognized her interesting in drawing, painting and other creative acts. After attending four years the elementary school, and four other painful years of middle school in Stubaital, she has won some new freedom in the next city called Innsbruck, in which she attended a grammar school until her graduation in the year 2017 at the age of 18. The years in middle school were painful because Julia was often a victim of bullying, because of her way she lived her life. She was different, her thinking was different, and her way to act was different. One day Julia claimed these days has been the hardest of her life, but retrospective also the marking ones. „Per aspera ad astra“, one of Julias favourite quotations. Her family, especially her mom was a strong and important person for her in this time.
After her graduation in grammar school Julia didn’t wanted to attend university right after. She claimed she didn’t wanted to be in a social system like school etc. again. She couldn’t imagine, that attending university was so much different to attending some sort of school. The days in school has always been a kind of coercion she said. After a year in which she worked in the metal branch as a opportunity worker, she decided to attend university. Julia started a study in civil engineering and philosophy at the university of Innsbruck. Her feelings about this decision has been mixed at the beginning, because actually she wanted to study abroad, but it wasn’t time yet, but her time will come, like we will later see. However, Julia fast recognized, that her strength and her passion lies in the subject philosophy and broke up her subject civil engineering. „Not all were happy about this decision I made, but I had to follow my heart.“, she said later. She admitted, that her actually thought was to study cicil engineering for earning money in her job later, because she knew as good as everybody who told her, that doing philosophy for living would be hard. But she recognized, that fear is one of the worst counselor you can have. And so she decided to follow her way, and this not always with optimism.
Mixed feelings are her companions, but summer 2019 turned out as her chance. She got the opportunity to attend a study abroad program at University of arts in London (St. Martins) in the subject fashion design. A dream come true and in her eyes it was a sign, that she should go on. Especially because on of the artists who always inspires her, is fashion designer and artist Yves Saint Laurent. Her exam of St. Martins helped her in her development as an artist. She refines her drawing style more and more, and the philosophy gave her a free spirit, which nobody can put in chains. „Home is where the heart is, and the heart is, where it has freedom.“, is one of her quotations. Still Julia has not many friends, but found some right ones.
