Attleboro-based pen and ink artist, Kat, has been drawing for more than 20 years. Originally studying the Monart method, which teaches how to view the world using the five basic elements of shape, she spent years exploring various 2D and 3D mediums.
One marketing degree and years of full-time work later, Kat picked up a pen again and started drawing geometric shapes filled with fine line work. Pandemic boredom led to a mounting collection of work and each drawing became more intricate and complicated, sometimes taking over 30 hours to complete. She started showing these works in galleries in 2021 and most recently participated in a three-city European exhibition in Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. Kat’s work comes full circle from her first exploration in art to her drawings today, which transform simple lines and shapes into unique labyrinths.
You can follow Kat’s journey and see the work she’s producing in her private Easton studio on Instagram @katdesyart or on her website: www.katdesyart.com.
