My name is Mo Demeter, born on 14 February 1980 in Transylvania in the middle of the wild Carpathians in Braşov. My mother's ancestors are german and jewish, my father's ancestors are hungarian gypsies. Growing up in a communist and dictatorial country, my sister and I left to Germany after the dictator was executed. After 14 years me and my then 2-year-old daughter moved to Bern in Switzerland, where I live since 18 years. During this time my art was the art of living with the important task of raising a child. 2 years ago, when she turned 18, I started again to capture my worlds in drawings.
I spent my youth with artists and in the so-called underground. The genuineness and the energetic history of these people fascinated me and offered me fertile ground to open my eyes to the big picture. During this time I painted female beings combined with all kinds of animals - half human, half animal.
The drive of my work has several facets. First there is always an object that appeals to me subconsciously. Everything is an intuitive process with great trust, connected to the energetic activity of the world outside, which wants to be alchemized inside. I feel a great responsibility in my work. Every stroke of the brush has its effects on my inner self as well as on the outside in the eye of the beholder, where in turn the beholder's own processes are set in motion.
