Even as a child, I was drawn to abstract artworks and their bright colours. I started drawing and painting when I was 18 and never really stopped. I had also been interested in photography for a few years when I decided to quit my job as an English teacher, move to London and buy a proper camera. I got a stall in Camden market, where my husband had been working for years selling his digital art, and I started selling my abstract urban photographs, exploring the technique of multiple exposures. This work really informed my new approach to painting, as my intent was then to incorporate some elements from my photographic work onto the canvas : the urban vibe, the vibrant colours, and the layering effect.
