Luigi Cuppone was born in Salento in 1980.
At art high schools he studied cabinet making, sculpture, metal applications, and in 1999 he licentiates in architecture and interior design.
He graduated from ISIA ROMA DESIGN Institute in 2005 with a dissertation project on the overcoming of DESERTIFICATION processes in Sahel (Africa). This project, supervised by Professor Alfio Leonardi, has been awarded with the Sergio Pininfarina Plate "MIUR (Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research) jury’s special award for research and innovation".
He entered the world of education in 2005, teaching DRAWING FOR PRODUCT DESIGN at ISIA INSTITUTE (Higher Institute for Art Industries) in Rome. In 2015 he was appointed as Professor of ECODESIGN at the IED INSTITUTE of Rome.
His methodological approach builds upon the principles of ECOLOGY by means of a practice design that goes athwart art, design and environmental sciences.
He founded the “LABORATORIO LINFA” in 2004, a design studio and artisan laboratory, orientated towards green economy within the communication and furnishing sector.
In 2014, the European Commission awarded his “SINE QUA NON” collection of furnishing accessories, created in partnership with young university students, with the Italian First prize for upcycling design.
He currently cooperates with public entities and administrations, virtuous companies and research foundations in the environmental field.
