Jana Cruder is of Irish and Northern-Italian ancestors, born in the rural mountains outside of Pittsburgh, PA on unceded Haudenosaunee land. She is a Los Angeles based fine artist exploring the themes of sexuality, gender roles, identity and human relationships with technology, each other and our environment.
Revisiting her roots and passion for scientific understanding of her reality though the medium of photography and film, Cruder’s new non-traditional photographic works involve projections of our natural forests, curated sound capture, meditation moments and alters in curated spaces, installing giant trash sculptures into urban environments, light-shaping colored discs for spectral chakra tuning, and flesh-and-blood subjects volunteering for a portrait series that scientifically examines how human physicality is shaped by the technology.
Her work continues to gain attention and current works include Audience With A Tree, and an experiential projection-based installation.
