Danielle Creme is a British-Israeli portrait and figurative artist who works primarily with oil on canvas. Her practice is rooted in exploring the complexities of identity, community, and the human interaction. She delves into the tension between our authentic selves and the personas we project in response to societal pressures, examining the psychological toll this dissonance imposes. Creme’s work also investigates the intricate relationships we share with one another—how connection, vulnerability, and societal constructs influence the way we relate, as well as the ways empathy and alienation shape our interactions.
Creme’s work engages with social and political themes, reflecting on their impact on individuals, relationships, and communities. By focusing on portraiture and figurative expression, she creates a space for empathy and recognition. Her aim is to foster understanding and human connection, bridging divides in places where these bonds have been fractured or lost.
Her current focus is on exploring the notion of home. Where do we belong and how do we maintain our identity, and relationships with ourselves, our family, our community and out traditions in light of migration.
