Taciana Coimbra (Brazil, 1977) is a visual artist and performer living between Italy and Brazil. Her interdisciplinary research spans painting, installation, and performance, exploring the body as a symbolic and collective space. She graduated from the Federal University of Pernambuco/Brazil and the Academy of Fine Arts of Reggio Calabria/Italy, where in 2008 she graduated with a thesis on immigration issues. In 2005 she founded the group Amplexo (now AMPLEXUS) in Brazil, with which she develops relational art projects.
During her travels in Brazil, she explored the use of raw cotton produced in Recife, a material that became a distinctive feature of her poetic imagination, adopted as canvas, dress, or performance structure.
After a challenging journey, she moved to Turin with her family in 2019; in 2021, she renovated an old house in the hills where she built her artist studio.
Among her international experiences, the exhibition A Caged Bird Sings at the Crypt Gallery in London (2010). She received the National Riace Bronzes/painting Award (Reggio di Calabria, 2010) and the FUNARTE Artes Visuais (Brazil, 2011) with the Scatola Nera project.
