I am a recent art school graduate, I graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem Israel, with a B.F.A. I was in the photography department, where the focus was fine art photography, but was lucky to also have classes in sound engineering, painting, site specific and performance, art and activism and more. I was first introduced to photography by my grandfather when I was about six years old. He was an amateur photographer and painter and his love for it inspired mine. My family moved from Chicago, Il to Israel in 2002. I have recently worked with an NGO in Lesvos Greece with the refugees there and continue to pursue humanitarian work alongside my art work.
For many years my work has explored the poetics of space, time, memory and narrative through the creation of photographic images that deal with my and our relationship with these concepts. As an immigrant I am continually returning to interspective work about identity and focus on how to represent this process in a visual format.
During my creative process I am inspired by nature, history, geology, poetry, literature... They all tell stories of place and time and also obtain a mystical quality. The medium that I work in is photography, mainly film photography. I play with formats of representation and experience through other actions such as instillation, writing, scanning of materials; different physical actions that translate the photographic work in new ways. Misidentification and disorientation are qualities I search for or attempt to create in order to question our understanding of our physical world.
