Maria Cioată was born in 1969 in
Pitesti, Romania following the tradition of her family of visual artists. Her
father, the abstract painter Lucian Cioată, had an important role in her
formation, guiding her to follow an artistic career based on the talent showed
at an early age. She graduated The ”Nicolae Tonitza” High School of Art and the
National University of Art in Bucharest, „Ceramics & Glass” Department.
Since the graduation in 1997, she
has been constantly participating in -2019-Solo Show-From ,,Genesis to

Maria’s style is unique, experimenting with
ceramics and sculpture, often expressing her art by means of installation and
performance. She also did theater scenography and book illustration. She lives
and works in Bucharest, Romania.
