Ziyao Chen was born in Beijing, China in 1996. She received her B.A. in art & art history and business from the St. Lawrence University in 2018. She is a photographer, video and installation artist that works with everyday items and finds the inspiration from her childhood memories. She reassembles the founding objects and finds new ways to identify our relationship with ideas of the natural, artificial, beautiful and repulsive. Her body of work ranges from oil paintings such as The Missing Part (2018) to digital media art such as time-based work Wrappers (2017) and photographs work City Vacation (2018). Chen has exhibited in the Canton, NY including shows at Richard F. Brush Art Gallery in St. Lawrence University and the Melonfest Music and Art Festival in Canton. Ziyao Chen lives and works in Beijing, China.
