Belgian fine art painter Vera L.P. Cauwenberghs
is mainly autodidact. She started drawing lessons at the age of nine and
started painting with oil paint by the time she was twelve. She was born in the
sixtees, as the youngest child of five. Having parents of the Great Generation,
when it came to art school, it simply wasn’t an option. So life happened: she
had an administrative job and raised two daughters alone, which didn’t leave
much room for painting. But being born a painter, the bottled up artistic
energy had to emerge at one point. And so it did: In 2008 she
started painting again and never stopped. Since then, she exhibited her work solo at
least once a year and took part in numerous group exhibitions. Her
painting style is essentially realistic, but there is undeniably a slightly
funny, rebellious side to it.
