Caroline N. BRUN grew up in the north of France and moved to Bordeaux to complete her studies in the humanities. Since early childhood, her sight has been a problem, to the extent that she had to undergo surgery. The temporary deprivation of her sight marked her sensory experience and her relationship with the world. It left her with an interest in the incongruous as translated by the senses, and in the visual as a gateway to relationships. Echoing this, many years later she would be marked by her grandfather's question to her in the twilight of his life: "Do I have eyes? It was then that she was struck by the urgency of exercising her eye on a daily basis. She took up photography at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Bordeaux. Her first project was noticed by UNESCO and won first prize from the Fondation de France. This was followed by various photographic series based on personal research, grants and commissions, presented to the public at exhibitions, festivals, public events and a self-publication.
These photographs have also been exhibited by associations, at conferences, in shops and, more recently, in galleries.
His work explores life as it comes, the ephemeral, absence, the forgotten, the contemplation of objects and beings in the ordinary. His work is eclectic, but always marked by links, traces, narratives and a commitment to highlighting certain humanist causes.
