Rod Capps, 52, was born in Brighton, UK. In 2007 he and his partner
moved to rural Southern France to
begin a new adventure.
Rod’s career has spanned across
many fields, from running his own greyhound racing team, co-founding a new
business research company – to building and renovating houses in France.
Today his passion is to grow the
Vinny Vine family of sculptures. The idea began while observing the day-to-day
working life of the vineyard opposite his home. An opportunity occurred when
the owners were removing and discarding their century old vines and replacing
them. He admired the beauty, shape and figurative potential of the old vines
and created his first sculpture in 2016, aptly named Vinny Vine. From there he
wrote a short story of how the vines 'came to life’ as he continued to create
new members of the Vine family.
With no formal training, Rod never
envisaged being an artist however his life in France became the perfect
backdrop and unleashed his creativity. From there he began experimenting with ideas…
Each sculpture is unique and
cannot be replicated.
This
will be Rod’s first opportunity to exhibit his work.
