d-vºsum. Strokes and portraits; an interpretation of the portrait that combines the photographic image with strokes and watercolors. This artistic expression completes and complements the character portrayed, bringing to the surface those elements of the “story” that are hidden behind facial expressions and features.
d-vºsum by Letizia Mocchegiani and Antonella Calaciura: a work of photography, watercolor and digital collage.
Letizia Mocchegiani: passionate about color grading and tones and attracted to the roughness of paper, I perceive graphic design and illustration as examples of alternative writing. I have been undertaking the study of shamanism and dream realities for many years, aiming to make connections between dimensions by demonstrating how realities expand and change when meeting.
In 1999 I published "Fiocchi di favole" a booklet of short stories in favor of the Lega del Filo d’Oro of Osimo.
In 2001 I participated in two exhibitions, "Interiormente" in Bergamo and "I cinque elementi" in Milan, with studio D'Ars in Milan.
For more than 30 years I have had the design studio "Tratto di carattere" which handles communication and graphic design with a special focus on labels and packaging.
In 2023 I published "Il gatto sotto la Magnolia" a book I have written with Luca Giorgi, where strokes and colors, black and white are combined with considerations on existence.
In 2022 Antonella Calaciura and I founded D-v*sum, an art project that creatively investigates human characters.
As a careful listener, I love to portray and visually translate words into signs and drawings which reveal aspects of the soul and hidden forms.
Antonella Calaciura: the fascination with photography came into my life in adulthood. The need to stop "photographing" only with my eyes and to actually become the author of shots stemmed from a craving to keep memory alive and to delve deeper into various aspects of life.I decided to train professionally at the Italian Institute of Photography in Milan where I studied, among others, photographic technique with Erminio Annunzi, portraiture and lighting techniques with Piermarco Menini and fashion photography with Franco Petter.
Over time, I developed a special interest in human portraiture and in particular studio portraiture.
I like to create an emotional connection with the person I am photographing because I am interested in representing the inner side, along with the facial portrait.
I take shots that need time and calmness.
d-v°sum is my first collaborative project.
