C D Barker has been practises in cloisonné enamel, a skill passed down through the family.Exploring an interest in the classical and the religious, in relation to contemporary portraiture, the works are in direct contrast to contemporary digital imagery, where much is recorded, but rarely with any significance. The majority of subject matter comes from advertising images, which are then captured in a permanent and classical medium. The works reflect on the loss of permanence and preservation in current society and is a commentary on the disposable and and unattainable 21st century beauty ideal.Symbolism is used to depict a modern allegory.
