In Place of Bio
As an artist, I'm interested in human interaction with and through water and how water deals with human-made reality. My works reflect water as a universal medium connected with living or lifeless things. The water sources in the US and ingredients diluted in water are witnessing people's lives. I state that American history is reflected in water and can be read through its content.
The content behind and between my water explorations gives form to my artworks. Water has its own morals, which I call Aquaethics.
Water contains an aspect of oneness, the fluid collectivity that can dissolve manmade structures, concepts, and events in its flow. In its flow, water creates fantasmic instituting waterarchies, waterrhizomes, faces, and gazes of everything that is in contact with it. Water clarifies the singularities of fringed places, people, and events, moving them from one locale to another in the transparency of liquified space and time. The water modifies worlds. The river's waters are an expression that inscribes and escribes events along its shores. Water has a memory of minerals and living forms. Its memory has color and density and a luminous body. I meant all that in my artwork, consciously learning to understand water.
The water flow dissolves time and turns it to reflection. Water reflection is a gaze. A river has past, present, and future places without boundaries between them. Upriver is the future; the unknown is flowing down to become known. The present is in front and can be seen, touched, and reflects the moment only. Downriver is the past. The present mixes with the past and floats down river in history. At different topos downriver, the past can be present, and the present can be the future. In the river the time is without definition and explicitly. My present is the past for somebody and is the future for others.
The water flows because of Earth's gravity. The direction of the flow is from a high to low and from up to down. Yet, the water time has is of its own accord. I read it according to my existence. Water has no self. It reflects the self of reality to reality. Water is transparent. I can see everything through the water. I can listen to reality by water as well. I can think with water. The origin of my thoughts can be sensed through its flow.
Objects float or sink in water. Objects stay on the water’s [sur]face and flow with it horizontally because of density and tension. Objects that sink stay under the [sur]face or behind. Objects inside the water cannot obstruct its flow. Gravity makes water take the form of rivers, flowers, brain cells, clouds in the sky, and ice in the mountains.
