CARMELA BLANCO
Buenos Aires, Argentina (1966)
She studied drawing and painting under the tutelage of the renowned artist Kazu Takeda. However, her training was not limited to that: she also worked with the acclaimed sculptor Ricardo de la Serna, which led her to discover her true passion for sculpture, studying with Maestro Filgueira Otamendi, where she incorporated oil painting, and with Poli Costa, with whom she explored abstraction in painting, broadening her artistic approach.
From 2006 to 2013, together with Poli Costa, she was part of the creative collective Grupo Costa-Blanco. Her works, created with recycled and found materials—such as metal and wood—exhibit a strong dynamic tension that creates a sense of movement and vitality within space. Carmela is a multifaceted and exploratory artist; she works across different supports and materials. Her works are part of private collections in Argentina and around the world, and she continues to develop new projects.
