Evond Blake is a Canadian multidisciplinary visual artist who has worked under the pseudonym MEDIAH for 25 years. Heavily inspired by avionics, mechanical engineering, and schematics, MEDIAH's artwork captures the essence of speed, motion, and force by weaving together bold street art forms with traditional painterly techniques, mixed media printmaking, and digital media. MEDIAH's background in Visual Effects for Film gives him a unique tool set that allows him to create cinematic installations and immersive environments that combine animation, digital media, post-graffiti, and traditional fine art.
MEDIAH has been featured in solo and group exhibitions and has been commissioned to paint large-scale murals in cities all over North America, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Barbados. Blake's projection mapping project, titled "DAXIM14", was awarded an honourable mention at the 2014 Digital Graffiti Festival in Florida, USA and his cinematic, immersive environment, titled "VOYIJ", was voted the best project at the American Express 'Live Life Experience' exhibition in Toronto, Canada in 2018.
Blake's dynamic, multidisciplinary artwork gives his audience an abstract view of otherworldly, ethereal dimensions as he illustrates both the beauty and chaos that results from humanity's insatiable desire to push boundaries and explore the unknown.
