“The work of Sofia, which I have observed in progress, is very
compelling, beautiful. Somehow she manages to bring the stone more life,
strength and expressiveness. Colorization of the marble with her surprising
textures animate and awaken her subjects. For me, it isn't so much about the microcosm of any particular place or
figure.
However, there is a
universal human content, which is pervasive. And touching!”
LensCulture professional review on Marmo

“Your images
invite the viewer to immerse themselves in the creative narratives happening
before their eyes. There is an aesthetic tension created in the layers of
flowering imagery, where you take the viewer through mysterious, dreamlike and
exotic juxtaposition floral colors against stark, white marble. It’s as if the
scenes express happiness and beauty. The imagery reaches out in a way that is
deeply emotional, psychological, and even spiritual. It’s hard to look at these
scenes and not feel happy!
These
imaginary (yet real) worlds remove the viewer from their commonly understood
vantage points. Using layering/composite technique you take the viewer into
more surreal worlds. By compositionally combining through composite, layering
floral textures of light, and shadow, you create compositions that promote
feelings of fantasy, nostalgia, and joy. By crafting a mystical/mythical
context around the subjects, the images become narratives about the beauty all
around us. You put the viewer in a position to speculate what it is they are
seeing. Because of this, the images evoke ideas around vantage point,
perception, and imagination. Each photo is very much an indicator of a larger
story.
Your images
prove that if one has the awareness, creativity, and curiosity, they can
discover (and create) new worlds among the mundane reality we live in. It is
very exciting and who knows where it will lead. Your photos really do cross a
lot of boundaries, which is highly encouraged in the art world”.
