Barbara Berretta is an Italian visual artist whose research develops through painting, mixed media, and material experimentation. She graduated from the “Mario Sironi” Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari and has built an independent path based on the continuous exploration of color, matter, and the narrative possibilities of the image.
After her first exhibitions in Sardinia, she continued her artistic journey in Germany, where she resumed exhibiting regularly, engaging with an international cultural context. In the following years, she participated in exhibitions, competitions, and artistic projects in Italy and across Europe, consolidating a constantly evolving practice. Upon returning to Sardinia, she founded the BB.ArtLab studio, from which she continues to develop new projects and promote her work through exhibitions and artistic events, mainly in the Olbia and Gallura area.
In her practice, Barbara Berretta combines painting with the use of fabrics, plastics, and other extra-pictorial materials, used not as decorative elements but as an integral part of the visual language. Their presence also introduces a tactile dimension, in which matter contributes to the construction of meaning and expands the dialogue between image, surface, and perception.
Layering, transparencies, errors, and material interventions generate works in which play and unease, harmony and tension coexist: an open and dynamic process in which each element contributes to the construction of complex images, suspended between aesthetic research and chance.
