Cagla Baykal, is a fine art photographer, based in Istanbul,
Turkey.
She started her career as a fashion
director for a
global magazine Marie
Claire Turkey in 1996 and continued in fashion
director of Elle
Turkey, after her graduation from LCF (London College of Fashion)
Fashion Design. In following years, she has been the art and fashion
director of most
known campaigns in fashion, commercial, photography and television industries.
She started
her second career as a Fine Art photographer. Her editorial works has been
published in global magazines.
Her passion for publishing and photography
followed with a self project, art and photography magazine named Alfa, in which
she publish portfolios of artists, photographers and documentaries of
environmental and social issues. She has published four unique issues of Alfa,
with the help of her friends who share the same passion with her and the companies
which support art materials. Being a creative
director of Alfa opened a new
way of understanding in her vision.
"After all those considerable
trials of getting closer, going deeper in photography one thing was obvious
that because of ethics and matters of my art moral I was interested in art at every medium. I wanted a better world of course and realised it starts first within; I wanted to show the hidden, the
sacred nuances... in which a person involves in any kind of art has the ability to sense, find and underline. And
this world is not limited in its material qualities only but also the qualities
of our senses which values all. Art is one of the tool in the world that we are
not scared of coming face to face and expand ourselves to new experiences. We are open to art no matter who we are and we are ready to open
ourselves to art. It is so powerfull."
