Architect and photographer, José Roberto Bassul was born in Rio de
Janeiro and lives in Brasilia. Focused on architecture, the urban landscape and
contemporary life, her photography explores connections between geometric
abstraction and critical expressiveness and investigates the limits and
boundaries of photographic language. He gives courses and workshops
periodically on "art photography of architecture". He has received
several national and international awards, including the 1st and 2nd places at
the International Photography Awards – IPA 2018 + 2019 (architecture), Gold
Awards at the Prix de la Photographie Paris - PX3 2016 + 2017 (architecture and
fineart) and the Moscow International Foto Awards – MIFA 2019 (architecture),
and Silver Award at the Tokio International Foto Awards – TIFA 2018
(architecture). Published in specialized magazines in Brazil, France, USA,
England, Mexico, Argentina and Italy, his works has often been exposed in
festivals, galleries and museums, in solo and collective exhibitions in Brazil
and abroad. In 2018 he published a photobook named Concretist Cityscape, which
is already sold out. He has works in numerous important private collections and
in the collections of the National Museum of the Republic in Brasilia and the
Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro - MAR.
