Tim Balboni is a New York City based artist with a 50 year career. His works range from realistic landscapes to geometric abstract paintings and sculptures. The landscapes often include elements of the human environment. Buildings, roads and store fronts are the focus of many of these works. Sometimes they are painted in a realistic manner, other times the elements are abstracted. The geometric works range from bold shapes and colors with three dimensional illusion to works with a collision of shapes, color, graphics and letterforms mimicking collage in their fragmented compositions and elements. At times, one of these abstract works could pass as a detail within a landscape. These range of work may seen great, but geometric shapes are the common thread between many of his pieces. The sculptures are an extension of the abstracts paintings and are often low relief and mount to a wall. They grew out of a desire to animate the shape and colors in the work. The usual, single flat surface of a painting is now multiple levels. As one moves by the work, the composition shifts from the interaction between the two and three dimensional shapes and colors.
In this application, he is showing only landscape pieces.
