Diego Ascencio Fuentes was born in 1989 in Guadalajara, México, where currently he lives and works.
Ascencio Fuentes uses architecture as a starting point with its physical and pictorial elements and through this he explores color and time and how they are related, configured, reconfigured and transformed.
Ascencio Fuentes's work explores the visual relationship of certain defined elements with their abstract counterpart, being a translation of what is built, considering color as a language, also, being one of the discourses proposed by architecture and its interaction with spatial experience.
On the other hand, Ascencio Fuentes presents in his work a way of stopping time and physically deforming it, usually lengthening specific moments, thus creating a utopian idea in the permanence of memory, which he defines as ‘Chromatic Memories’.
Ascencio Fuentes studied at the school of architecture in the Western Institute of Technology and Higher Studies (ITESO). In 2021 he presented his first solo exhibition called 'Until the sun cries morning' at Óvalo Galeria in Mexico City. He was part of several group shows in Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey and China. Also this year he became part of the permanent collection of the MAC (Contemporary Art Museum of San Luis Potosí).
He also participated in different art fairs like SWAB in Barcelona, FAIN in México and FAMA in Monterrey. He's been selected as one the artist to participate in Salón Acme 2022 edition.
