I am an Italian Architect, passionate about wood carpentry and artisanal work, proud founder of atelier anna arpa, which is engaged in researching into the creativity and formal universe, with a special eye to sustainability and circular production.
atelier anna arpa’s body of work to date focuses primarily on solid wood and it lays on the subtle line between art and design. By exploring the material’s properties, its characteristics are pushed to its best qualities, creating modular joints that – in most cases– do not need the use of hardware fittings nor glues. The pieces are pure form becoming structure. My work is characterized by a deep technical and formal research, which originates from the artisanal heritage, passes through experimentation and moves towards a new original expression. The focus lays on construction joints, geometric silhouettes and well-proportioned plans. The knowledge of the material properties, together with the study of the best manufacture techniques, results in a fresh new perspective.
