Camilo Arias is a 32-year-old Colombian visual artist. Graduating with a degree in Audiovisual Media from the Grancolombiano Polytechnic University of Bogotá, he later received international accreditations in 3D Animation and Character Design.
In 2014, Arias held his first solo-exhibition titled, “Manifestación” in Panama and went on to develop a second collective exhibition only a year later in collaboration with the Embassy of Panama in Egypt. He then went on to participate in a collective exhibition with the Gallery Zunzun in Toulouse as part of the annual Latino Graff event which took place in different cities across France in August 2017. In June 2019, he was invited by the Ministry of Culture to exhibit “Unity in Diversity” at the Modern Egyptian Art Museum for Cairo Biennale and in October 2019, he held his solo exhibition "Psychedelic Roots" at the prestigious Zamalek Art Gallry in Cairo.
He also has extensive experience as a muralist, creating several commissions in Colombia, Panama, Egypt, Iceland, and Spain.
Camilo's childhood was marked by both the vibrant landscapes of the cordilleras in Colombia and the harsh consequences of the war waged between the FARC, the State, and paramilitaries factions. This upbringing helped instill in him the values that shaped his philosophy on life and art. The psychedelic scenes depicted in his paintings show human beings and nature coalescing in vibrant, tropical colors and creating surreal dreamscapes that convey an overarching message of intrinsic dualism.
