Sandra Ansaldi, who trained as a psychiatrist and formerly worked as a painter, has been dedicating herself to sculpture and conceptual art for about five years. The artist has made the change and transformation of objects her forte. At the heart of her work is the "defamiliarized objec", the object torn from its original meaning and taking on a new identity and function. Sandra is fascinated by the power of becoming "something else," of reinventing a new story. Perhaps her most emblematic work is the bidet, interpreted in a series of themes, and
conveying many philosophical, political, economic and cultural messages, with humor.
Her bidet is not only a functional object, it is a conceptual object, a provocation and an invitation to rethink intimacy and cultural identity. Object of transition between body and space, it reflects our norms, habits and taboos. By the artist's gesture, the bidet becomes a vector of transformation, questioning our relationships to privacy and personal care. It symbolizes a unique combination of humour, social engagement and cultural reflection, with the everyday element as its central focus.
Born in Mondovì (Piedmont), having always painted, from 2003 onwards she assiduously attended the workshops of two Turin masters for four years, where she developed her abstract technique. In addition to painting, she also dedicates herself to printmaking, conceptual art and sculpture (since 2020)
From 2010 to 2016, he was a member of the Arting association (www.arting.fr), which brings together artists from various backgrounds. He attended the historic IDEM workshop, located in Montparnasse (Paris).
"The bidet is my canvas, a medium like any other to write and formulate my message. The purpose of my work? To reinvent the way we
make this object, while creating a societal, cultural and artistic impact."
“The bidet is a pretext, a catalyst. It forces people to see differently. It invites reflection on the boundaries between utilitarian and
artistic, between intimate and collective. By placing it at the centre of an artistic process, I claim an art of transfiguration: to
transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, the daily into a question.” Sandra ANSALDI
