Yulia Ani is a Berlin-based visual artist whose practice centers on abstract painting. Born in Russia and having lived extensively in the US, France, and Germany, her international background informs her exploration of identity and the perception of human experience.
Her work has been exhibited across Germany and internationally at galleries, art institutions, and art fairs, including Bethanien (Berlin), Galerie Grolman (Berlin), Every Woman Biennial (Copeland Gallery, London), and Discovery Art Fair (Frankfurt), among others. Yulia Ani’s artworks are part of private collections worldwide.
Yulia Ani’s art delves into her psyche, emotions, and memories, transforming these internal landscapes into abstract forms. Her intuitive process merges spontaneity with intention, creating works that balance figuration and abstraction. Through the distortion of shapes, simplification of forms, and the use of vibrant colors and expressive lines, she translates personal experience into a universal visual language. Each piece becomes a portal, inviting the viewer to explore the intersections of inner and outer realities.
Yulia is currently expanding her practice beyond painting to include sculptural objects, as well as curating and co-curating both solo and group exhibitions. These experiences have deepened her interest in how concepts can be communicated not only through individual works but also through the integration of different media within a spatial environment.
