Art and
architecture have always inspired me: the type of art that mimics the beauty of
our reality, the type of architecture that transforms the space around us. Since
I was a child, I have always wished to grasp this beauty, its ephemerality and
unattainability.
My parents had a
large bookcase full of exciting books about biology, chemistry, geography,
ecology, medicine and other subjects. However, and to my own surprise, I gave
preference exclusively to those dedicated to the masterpieces of Cranach,
Bruegel, Velázquez, da Vinci and Renoir, in which I discovered new details over
and over again.
I was raised in a
family with a strong background in natural sciences. Despite this fact, I did
not hesitate a second to choose Russian Philology as the primary subject of my
studies, while dedicating all my free time to folklore art and oil painting.
Soon after finishing Bachelor’s studies, I moved to Germany where I continued
my education in a field that was completely new to me — Interior Design and
Architecture. Still, the passion for art that emerged in the early childhood
keeps inspiring me even 20 years after, which is why I have decided to make a
new start and participate in the Arte Laguna Contest.
Although I
respect and acknowledge classical painting techniques, I prefer modern artwork
methods, namely, digital graphics and 3D modeling. These tools allow me to
create "parallel realities" in which I experiment with the space,
manipulate it with shadows and lights, and integrate 2D models into the 3D
context. In my work I always aim at and pay particular attention to the
Observer’s inclusion in that what he or she observes as well as to his or her
empathy.
