Born in Nice from an Armenian mother and a Corsican father, Alex studies first geography and become a city planner/architect. He comes to the sculpture by integrating a group CALIBRE 33 during the 80s. In this cooperative gallery, he mainly develops art installations. He proposes "a private and poetic idea of the space, reducing or exagerating the structures he displays, developping for the first time his mural work in which he combines waste material and new industrial element. "
During the 90s, he tends to elaborate a directory of signs and forms in drawings and small sculptures. From the 2000s, his work takes three directions with the collections "Murales" ; "Hermès de Sauveterre" ; and "Travellers and Watchers" where he puts the famous "marines" in suitcases.
Suddenly, he loses 50 years of paintings and sculpture in a tragic fire. But, he rises from the ashes and begins to work digital images on computer where he can mix all his favorite themes and integrate photos of his lost pieces. The acrylic support helps him to translate the more accurately possible the light of a computer. And this is the birth of several series. "Little girl and the sea", "Vanities with mannequins", "Marineros", ... next to come !
